What is a glow disc?

A glow disc is a disc golf disc made from a special type of plastic that glows in the dark. Glow discs are “charged” by exposure to UV light. The more UV light they’re exposed to, the brighter and longer they will glow in the dark or low light conditions.

When playing glow disc golf at night, glow discs typically need to be recharged every 10-20 minutes. This is why UV flashlights are strongly recommended for glow golf; you’ll want to recharge your discs multiple times during your round.

Charging glow discs: UV flashlights are best!

You can charge glow discs with a regular flashlight, it just takes longer and the glow disc won’t hold it’s charge quite as well.

If you’re serious about glow disc golfing, we recommend spending the extra $15 – $25 to invest in a UV flashlight. It’ll cut the number of times you need to pull your flashlight out in half, and save time every time you do.

Yes, you can make your own glow disc!

If you’d prefer to play with your regular discs and don’t want to purchase glow plastic discs, that’s no problem!

An alternative to playing with glow plastic discs is to add your own glow strips or lighting to your discs.
